Communicable Disease Investigation

The Public Health Program facilitates the various activities and interventions necessary to assure identification and proper treatment of individuals who may have a communicable disease, whether it is a water or food-borne illness like Salmonella, an infection that spreads through the air like Tuberculosis, a vaccine preventable infection like Pertussis, or a newly identified threat such as West Nile Virus or Avian Influenza.

Public Health staff conducts communicable disease investigations for diseases that spread between people, in cooperation with medical providers and in accordance with state law. Staff members also provide health counseling, testing and limited treatment for certain diseases.
