Barron County residents are invited to a presentation on March 14, 2024, where the results of the Barron County groundwater study will be discussed. The presentation will feature Kevin Masarik, from the UW-Stevens Point Groundwater Center, who will delve into the findings and provide insights into the health implications of various elements present in the groundwater, along with treatment recommendations.
Funds are available to assist homeowners with needed and necessary repairs to their homes with the CDBG Home Repair Program through Chippewa County Housing Authority (covering 10 counties including Barron County). No interest, deferred payment loans are also available for down payment and closing costs assistance to income-eligible homebuyers.

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Barron & Rusk Counties is hiring part-time Meals on Wheels Drivers in the areas of Barron, Cumberland, and Turtle Lake. This rewarding position is a shared-position offering two weeks on then two weeks off. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is retired and looking to fill some time a few hours out of the day, but still provides time off. These positions pay $10.00/hour and drive a county vehicle. It’s a great way to give back to your community by serving homebound older adults. This document consists of crash reports for each of the seven counties that are located in the West Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (WCWRPC) planning area. The individual reports give a detailed look at each county and provides a tool for each county to review crash data. The reports also consist of maps that give locational data and information. The maps and data do not include crashes located in cities and villages.

The U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 2) mandates a headcount every 10 years of everyone residing in the 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Island Areas of the United States. This includes people of all ages, races, ethnic groups, citizens, and non citizens. The first census was conducted in 1790 and one has been conducted every 10 years since then. The next census occurs in 2020.
Loans of up to $15,000 are available from the Barron County CDBG Program, administered through the Chippewa County Housing Authority, to assist homebuyers with matching funds for down payment and/or closing costs. The loans are deferred. There is no interest or payments required until the homebuyer no longer owns or occupies the home. The loans will be secured by a mortgage taken in second position behind the purchase financing.

The Barron County Sheriff’s department is proud to announce that a Med Return drop box has been installed at the Barron County Sheriff’s Department and is available for residents to drop off unused, expired, or unwanted medications twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
