Programs and Services:
Barron County has participated in the Farmland Preservation Program for more than 30 years, since the adoption of the Farmland Preservation Plan in 1979. In 2009, the Working Lands Initiative became state law and with the new law came changes to the Farmland Preservation program. These changes required Barron County to update the previous Farmland Preservation Plan in 2015. Plans must be updated every 10 years, and a draft of the 2025 Farmland Preservation Plan is available for review and will be finalized by the end of 2025.
